Valentine’s Cookies and Nine Grain Bread

Aaron and I are part of a newlywed Sunday School class, and since for many of us this is the first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, we decided to celebrate! Naturally I offered to bring cookies. =) A while ago I posted cookie cake/cookie bar recipe. I used this, cut them into heart shapes with a cookie cutter, and wrote on them with an easy buttercream icing. Here is the results.

On Friday we made Nine Grain Bread. We used a pre-fermented method which meant we added old bread dough, patte fermente, ours was 2 hours old but if it’s made the night before it’s even better. This helps enhance the flavor giving it a slight sourdough taste, and also helps the bread ferment nicer. This is Hui, my friend from class, taking our bread out of the oven. This is our final product after we let it rise, shaped it, proofed it, scored it, and finally baked it. Enjoy!
